You should usually only be able to fit a maximum of two fingers between yourself and the back band of the bra, if you can fit more fingers than your bra is too big. To test if the bra is too small, take a look at the shape of the back band. It should either form a straight line or a v shape, if the V is upside down then it is too small.
You can also assess whether your bra is too small by taking a look at the underwire. The underwire should remain flat on your body, if it pulls forward then the bra isn’t giving you the support you need as the bra is too small.
The bra’s cups can give a good indication of what bra size you should be wearing. Your breast should be smooth along the line of the cup and if the cups are too tight, your bra may create the unflattering ‘four boob effect’ where your breast spills over the top of the cup. Baggy cups are a sign of a bra that is too big therefore your breasts are not receiving the support and shaping benefits of a well-fitting bra.
